The Statesmen Chorus is a 501.c.3 organization which is deeply involved in our community entertaining and providing educational and other support services.  To this end, the chorus has a sizable “needs” budget to accomplish our goals and objectives.  Our needs for the second half of 2008 include:

• Sending our wonderful director to Director’s College at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Harmony University, a prerequisite for her becoming a certified director of the society.
• We require additional risers and “fanny rails” to provide a safer performance venue for our members.
• We have a sizeable marketing budget to support our objective of increasing our membership as well as to promote our performances and community services.
• We intend to sponsor as many young people and music educators as possible in our communities to attend regional “Youth in Harmony” camps for high school and college age singers.
• We will be bringing in top-level coaches for weekends to better prepare the chorus and our quartets for competition at Southwestern District and to help us become more entertaining for our audiences.
• We would help defray the travel cost for our membership to Little Rock for District competition this fall.
• Printed music and learning CDs are significant cost elements as we expand our repertoire for our shows and competition.
• Our director is paid a modest salary for giving of her time and talents to our weekly rehearsals and performances.  We would certainly like to be able to increase her salary to a level more in keeping with her proven abilities to allow us to achieve a much higher standard of musical excellence than we have ever achieved before she agreed to become our director.
• Ours is not a low-cost mission and requires a significant amount of funds to achieve excellence in the wonderful world of barbershop harmony.
